THE ISSUES SURROUNDING THE CURRENT CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) PANDEMIC WHILE PROFFERING SOLUTIONS TO IT’S PRESENT OR FUTURE OCCURRENCE IN NIGERIA.
The corona virus diseases also known as COVID-19, was first confirmed in Nigeria and announced on 27th February 2020, when an Italian citizen in Lagos was tested positive for the virus. The pandemic of corona virus diseases as been a threat to our economy, streets in the cities are empty, the busiest states whereby corona virus cases increased are been in total shutdown, the private sectors companies are experiencing a great a loss in their respective business, this pandemic corona virus have become a threat to citizens health, adults over 60 years of age are tends to not have survive this deadly virus and also people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions or people with bad immune system seems to be at high risks.
However, despite the fact that this pandemic of corona virus diseases as caused a great disaster in the country, in times of hunger which is not good for the body, also crime rate in the country as increased immensely, case study of Ogun state, different types of youth involving in dubious act of armed robbery, the government needs to provide a relief package fund to the masses, this will attenuate the rate of crime in the country. The citizen’s have to adhere to guidelines and safety measures of the National Agency ask us to follow, and then the pandemic corona virus diseases will be over as soon as possible.
More so, we have been facing a lot of challenges from this deadly virus, the Nigerian Governments needs to combat with this deadly virus with the provision of quality health care system e.g. well equipped hospitals for isolation and also a well equipped Laboratory and equipment for detecting the virus as soon as possible, and also the testing method should not be in the laboratory only, it should be mobile, let it be from door to door so as to eradicate this deadly virus quickly.
In conclusion, according to my own perception I believe we should sensitize the citizen’s by organizing online seminars or videos and also provide a relief fund to all individuals staying at the lock down terrain, the Governments can make use of technologies like mobile tracker to track the GPS of the people staying in the states that is being lock down and a relief fund should be send to them so as to attenuate the crime rate, and also we should quarantine individuals who have been exposed to the virus, those who have underlying health risks, and they should adhere to prudent measures like staying at home if you feel sick, washing your hands regularly, covering your mouth when coughing and sneezing and avoid large social gatherings. All of this can attenuate the present and future occurrence in Nigeria.
